Landmark East Project: Introduction |
The landmark east international ideas competition was open to anyone with the ability to develop and deliver a visionary idea for a landmark – a sustainable icon representing the region to the rest of the world. The judges were looking for ideas that would attract significant funding, stimulate tangible economic benefit and inspire a sense of pride and unity in the region. The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) is the regional development agency for the East of England. It takes the strategic lead in promoting the sustainable economic development of the region which comprises Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Its vision is: Landmark east is a big opportunity for the East of England to showcase the region’s unique assets to the rest of the world with something iconic and sustainable. Research commissioned by EEDA found that there was a lack of identity or sense of belonging – nothing anchoring people to the region as a whole. See our proposal here. |
